I've watched this video several times and, to me, there are at least two things the rider could have done to avoid the accident.
But, make no mistake, the driver was at fault.

A good rule I use is: you steer your vehicle to the point where the skid/ accident started, when you reach that point the skidding vehicle(s) will be gone.
This rule is used by Bob Bondurant and other driving schools.
